The Counter Threat Engineering Team under the Global Cybersecurity Services organization is seeking to find a high-energy, motivated individual to lead our Capabilities Advancement & Effectiveness (CAE) function. In this role, you will spearhead a new team dedicated to combining security engineering, process and analysis knowledge to measure and quantify security defenses and help drive change through a data driven approach.

The right leader will bring a mix of strong security, analytical, engineering and leadership credentials. This position reports directly to the Head of Counter Threat Engineering.

What the day will look like
  • Oversee the curation, maturation and automation of metrics across the Counter Threat Engineering team and Global Cybersecurity Services organizations
  • Work across the security and IT organization to establish and own a systematic view of our defensive capabilities from an operations and engineering perspective.
  • Analyze new and existing data sources; liaise with the operations teams to enhance our visibility, detections and processes with an eye towards sustainable automation
  • Leverage the above to identify gaps, mis configurations, improvement opportunities and duplication of tools to work with stakeholders to recommend and implement enhancements
  • Use a kanban methodology to deliver on concurrent projects covering multiple security technologies and value streams.
  • Help drive the ongoing transformation of managing the toolset using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code into a GitOps model.
  • Foster a DevOps oriented culture of collaboration
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 10+ Years experience working in security operations, incident response, intel analysis or security engineering and related fields
  • Experience developing, owning and driving change with a data driven approach
  • Experience with modern log aggregation and analysis tools such as Splunk, Logscale, etc
  • Experience in data driven process improvement
  • Experience of working in and managing a global enterprise-wide diverse team of information security professionals.
  • Experience using kanban or similar agile methodologies to manage team workloads and projects
  • Experience with version control software such as Git
  • Understanding of capabilities analysis frameworks such as RaceTrack
  • Understanding of GitOps, IaaC and CaaC concepts

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $132,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
