The Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) is responsible for leading the transformation of our enterprise-wide supply chain strategy across a complex, multi-entity health system. This executive will be a critical change agent, responsible for reimagining, designing, and executing a next-generation supply chain that is fully integrated, data-driven, resilient, and aligned with our mission to deliver exceptional patient care. This role requires a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of healthcare operations, procurement, logistics, vendor management, and the enabling technologies that drive supply chain performance. The CSCO will ensure the supply chain function is a strategic asset, supporting clinical outcomes, financial health, and organizational agility. The CSCO is responsible for developing and implementing opportunities to create financial value across the full health system, including forming strategic relationships within and outside the organization. The role will lead the development of short- and long- term strategies in line with the health system's overall strategy. As the face of supply chain, the CSCO will ensure broader organizational support around identified goals, strategies, budgets, and metrics associated with supply chain. The CSCO also lead integration of the supply chain function across the organization - both within functions and facilities - in partnership with management and key leaders (e.g., physicians). The CSCO will cultivate a high-performing supply chain organization by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. They will foster a collaborative and accountable culture that promotes innovation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement across all aspects of the supply chain operations. Essential Duties:
- Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight: - Set the strategic vision for the enterprise supply chain aligned with organizational goals and future-state operating model. Oversee all supply chain and procurement programs to include managing strategic procurement, sourcing, and contracting, supply chain operations and systems, analytics, operational excellence, materials management, project management, and supply chain clinical integration. - Establish SC as a key asset to the organization and positioned as part of health system leadership team. - Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain and procurement strategies that are scalable and align with organizational goals and objectives and provide visibility to results. - Articulate the vision and goals for supply chain to all levels of the organization. - Lead and drive strategic initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, effectiveness, and overall value. - Optimize supply chain operations to improve inventory control, product availability, and total cost of ownership. - Lead the supply chain management team, promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. - Establish and maintain strong strategic relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Physicians, Corporate Health System, University Business Services, Office of General Counsel, Healthcare Compliance team and Clinicians) and external partners (e.g., suppliers, vendors). - Ability to influence clinical and operational teams to address concerns, overcome resistance, and gain support to the health system's Supply Chain initiatives. - Maximize financial and operational value through effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management. - Develop and maintain a robust leadership structure for centralized supply chain functions, including: - Strategic Procurement (Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Contracting, Supplier Relationship Management, Purchasing) - Operational Excellence - Clinical Integration (Medical Utilization, Value Analysis) - Operations and Systems (Supply Chain Systems Support, Analytics, Operations, and Warehouse Management) - Foster and maintain key cross-functional collaboration to support and integrate supply chain functions with Corporate Health System, University Business Services, Office of General Council, Healthcare Compliance team, Clinicians, and each Health Care facility.
- Strategic and Process Improvement Management: - Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes and systems to achieve optimal levels of efficiency and effectiveness. - Set Strategic direction for Supply Chain functions across the Health System Enterprise to enable best practices. - Analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. - Ensure seamless integration of supply chain operations with clinical and operational activities across the Health System. - Oversee dedicated supply chain resources to support operational excellence, process improvement, and project management initiatives across the supply chain. - Focus on quality and system-wide performance improvement by adopting and implementing leading practices. - Incorporate automation and other technologies to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support innovative supply chain solutions. - Collaborate with other functions such as Clinical Services, Physician Leadership, Operational Leadership, Finance, IT, and Capital Planning to support the best Supply Chain outcomes for patients and staff.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: - Evaluate and maintain GPO and prime Distributor relationships to ensure benefits are optimized. - Manage suppliers to ensure material availability and service meet required standards. - Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating favorable terms and driving value-added partnerships. - Monitor supplier performance, ensuring accountability for delivering high-quality products and services in a timely manner. - Oversee efforts to evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, service, and innovation.
- Compliance, Financial and Operational Management: - Develop and manage the supply chain and procurement budget, focusing on cost control and value creation. - Monitor and manage expenses to support organizational cost reduction goals and provide regular financial performance reports. - Work closely with finance team to monitor and report on supply chain performance metrics, and ensuring financial targets are met. - Identify and implement opportunities for expense management to achieve organizational margin improvement goals. - Maintain a thorough understanding of economic, supplier, and industry conditions to make proactive decisions and policies. - Develop and implement policies that support the health system's strategic goals, considering potential impacts on organizational success. - Take a leadership role in developing, quantifying, and implementing service and cost reduction programs system wide. - Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining and enhancing service levels and qualities. - Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and organizational policies. - Conduct regular assessments and audits of supply chain processes to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.
- Technology and Innovation: - Leverage existing technology to drive supply chain efficiency and effectiveness, including the use of advanced analytics, automation, and supply chain management software. - Partner with Information Systems implement/improve technologies and innovations that improve supply chain performance and patient outcomes. - Ensure high reliability processes are in place for data governance, data integration, spend analytics, comparative benchmarking, utilization trends and opportunity analysis.
- Talent Development and Team Leadership: - Direct and mentor a high-performing leadership team across multiple supply chain domains. - Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement. Champion talent development, diversity, and succession planning across the department. - Promote a culture of excellence and accountability within the supply chain management function.

Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor's Degree Business administration, healthcare administration, supply chain management, or related field
- Req 10 years Executive leadership experience in hospital supply chain, with at least 5 years in role with significant business impact
- Req Experience with academic medical centers or IDNs. Proven record of managing supply chain transformation across complex systems
- Req Experience with value analysis, clinical integration, and strategic sourcing models.
- Req Proven track record of developing and executing successful supply chain transformation programs that drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and quality improvement.
- Req Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and best practices in supply chain management.
- Req Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Req Strong ability to establish and monitor KPIs that are in line with key performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, inventory turnover, lead times, and cost reductions).
- Req Advanced knowledge of sourcing, contracting terms, negotiating strategies, purchasing ethics, budgeting, and capital financing.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Master's degree MBA, MHA, MS SCM or in related field
- Pref 15 years or more Executive leadership experience in hospital supply chain, with at least 5 years in role with significant business impact
- Pref Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or similar
- Pref Certification - Job Relevant Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP), or Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVHAP)
Required Licenses/Certifications:

The annual base salary range for this position is $246,471.00 - $406,678.00.
