About the Opportunity:

Join a high-performing team at a $65M forging operation in Cleveland, OH, as a Metallurgist. In this hands-on technical role, you'll support the production of mission-critical aerospace components by leading efforts in material selection, heat treatment, and process control. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Quality, and Shop Floor teams to ensure forged products meet the highest metallurgical and mechanical standards. From failure analysis to continuous improvement, your expertise will help drive product integrity, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to ensure all materials and processes meet stringent aerospace requirements.
  • Conduct metallurgical evaluations on raw materials and forged products; prepare technical reports to support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process qualifications.
  • Operate and maintain testing and certification systems to verify raw materials and products conform to customer, industry, and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate testing and compile technical documentation required for customer process approvals (e.g., ESA submissions), working closely with Quality and Engineering.
  • Maintain accurate records related to material certifications, testing results, and audit compliance.
  • Provide purchasing with technical requirements to ensure materials are ordered in full compliance with all applicable specs and standards.
  • Perform and support internal and external audits to verify compliance with customer contracts, Nadcap, and Pursuit Aerospace Quality Manual requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to provide technical expertise on metallurgical, dimensional, and heat treatment issues.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and adaptability, responding to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while upholding high quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of metallurgical experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in forging or aerospace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in aerospace forging or working with high-performance alloys in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of heat treatment processes, material specifications, and metallurgical testing methods.
  • Experience interpreting customer specifications, blueprints, and industry standards such as AMS, ASTM, and Nadcap.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Nadcap audits and meeting special process compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with customer process approvals (e.g., ESA submissions) and special process qualifications.
  • Experience coordinating with or managing subcontracted metallurgical testing laboratories.
  • Experience with Kaizen methodologies in manufacturing
  • Proficient in using ERP systems and basic CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach.

Minimum Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during lab work and shop floor visits.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, such as sample materials, testing instruments, or documents.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers dexterously for operating lab equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and industrial materials.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to perform detailed metallurgical evaluations and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary. We offer a competitive benefit package. Must be willing and able to work onsite full-time in Cleveland, OH. This position is eligible for relocation.
