The Director of Capture is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the full lifecycle of strategic capture efforts across multiple lines of business. This individual will lead cross-functional teams to shape, position, and win new business opportunities, particularly within the federal sector. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, self-starting strategist with a proven track record in managing complex pursuits and influencing executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage large-scale capture efforts from opportunity identification through proposal submission.
  • Develop and execute capture strategies that align with corporate growth objectives and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with business development, solution architects, and proposal teams to shape solutions and win themes.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, customer intelligence gathering, and risk assessments to inform pursuit decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government clients, industry partners, and internal leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and external requirements throughout the capture lifecycle.
  • Track and report on capture metrics, including win/loss ratios and pipeline health.
  • Ensure all team members are aligned on capture strategy, win themes, and customer priorities. Lead regular stand-ups, strategy sessions, gate reviews, and color team reviews to maintain momentum and clarity throughout the capture lifecycle.
  • Clearly define and delegate tasks across the team, ensuring each member understands their role in shaping the technical, management, and pricing volumes. Use tools like SharePoint, Zoho, and Microsoft Teams to track progress and manage deliverables.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to junior capture staff and proposal contributors. Encourage professional development and cross-training to build bench strength and succession planning.
  • Lead post-mortem reviews and integrate lessons learned into future capture strategies. Maintain a repository of best practices, templates, and reusable content to accelerate future pursuits.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in federal business development, capture management, or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading and mentoring a team
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-million-dollar capture efforts.
  • Deep understanding of federal procurement processes, including IDIQs, GWACs, and task order contracts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with executive leadership.
  • APMP certification or equivalent preferred.


Preferred Attributes:



  • Experience with solutioning and technical architecture in support of capture.
  • Familiarity with Shipley or similar capture methodologies.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution.
