Position Purpose:

Drive growth, retention, and productivity by developing and executing grooming education strategies. Ensure quality and safety standards across all grooming programs, including Academies. Design educational resources for partners and guests that reflect Petco's standards and evolving business needs. Act as the key liaison for grooming education between stores and corporate teams.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee Grooming Mentor Program and Salon Academies to ensure a consistent, high-quality guest experience.
  • Serve as subject-matter-expert for grooming education strategy in partnership with HR, L&D, and Field Operations.
  • Develop blended learning curriculum aligned with Petco's goals and industry trends.
  • Activate training programs through operational execution by aligning education with in-store priorities, driving consistency and results
  • Advise on legislation impacting grooming compliance.
  • Provide leadership to field and corporate teams on grooming training initiatives.
  • Deliver timely, actionable feedback on education programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage execution of training across Mentors and Academies.
  • Translate training content into actionable field execution by collaborating with field operations ensuring alignment between learning and frontline results.
  • Track and ensure compliance with training timelines and graduation goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for Grooming Academy Instructors.
  • Support partner staffing, retention, and post-training productivity.
  • Align programs with operational, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Improve training metrics and reporting capabilities.
  • Launch engagement initiatives to boost morale and retention.
  • Analyze training performance across stores, districts, and markets.
  • Uphold compliance in all education and certification materials.
  • Collaborate with field leadership on workforce development.
  • Evolve curriculum to meet business needs and elevate partner skills.
  • Reinforce adherence to quality, safety and compliance standards.

Education:

  • College degree in related field and/or 10 years equivalent or relevant experience
  • Holder of relevant and nationally recognized grooming certifications examples: Certified Master Pet Stylist, Dermatech Specialist, Meritus

Other Skills:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills & multi-unit leadership experience
  • Extensive experience in Service training environment
  • Prior experience leading organizational change and champion of a service culture
  • Knowledge in training documentation systems & methods
  • Knowledge in adult learning theories including assessments and competency-based training
  • Model the company standards and values that others are expected to follow
  • Demonstrate positive and constructive behaviors that drive team cooperation in achieving market objectives
  • Ability to meet deadlines and fact check information.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel.

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
