Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs Site Reliability Engineer - Sr. Consultant level (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to:

  • Responsible for common database infrastructure that supports multiple enterprise applications and multiple business lines.
  • Design, implement, advanced problem analysis, deploy, and improve operations of database technologies used at Visa.
  • Responsible for overall database support in various database environments used by different business lines.
  • Provide technical influence and subject matter expertise for the database team.
  • Support Database Administration (DBA) and Engineering in the architecture, design, development and deployment and management of Microsoft SQL database environments.
  • Provide technical expertise to design the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for Microsoft SQL Server-based database systems.
  • Provide DBA support for databases in various environments.
  • Manage, support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database technology and infrastructure, adhering to architectural guidelines and policies.
  • Provide DBA support in configuring enterprise monitoring, backup, alerting, and security compliance solutions for SQL servers.
  • Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms.
  • Participate in evaluation, selection, and implementation of DBA tools to improve effectiveness of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management process.
  • Position reports to the Austin, TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, followed by 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related systems/software engineer, database administrator, or programmer analyst occupation.
  • Alternatively, Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in a related systems/software engineer, database administrator, or programmer analyst occupation.Position requires experience in the following skills:
    • Database Administrator (DBA) experience with Microsoft and SQL Server.
    • Microsoft SQL Server Technologies.
    • Windows and SQL utilities.
    • Database replication technologies including always-on and Golden Gate.
    • Writing SQL scripts and packages for administration and application support.
    • Installing, patching and upgrading SQL server and underlying technology stack.
    • Operating systems, Scripting languages, PowerShell, data modeling and business intelligence tools.
Additional Information

Worksite: Austin, TX

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements:This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements:This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $143,200.00 USD to $229,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
