Overview
The Director of Geospatial Delivery - is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, execution, and operational delivery of geospatial programs for out utility clients. This individual leads a large team of geospatial technologists, engineers, and delivery managers to support our geospatial projects in the areas of UN migrations, asset management, outage response, field mobility, and network planning. The role ensures the consistent delivery of high-impact geospatial solutions for our utility clients in furtherance of reliability, regulatory compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Define and lead the geospatial delivery strategy in alignment with utility business objectives, including grid modernization, AMI deployment, and resiliency initiatives.
- Collaborate with utility operations, engineering, IT, and regulatory teams to align geospatial capabilities with enterprise priorities.
- Drive the development and implementation of geospatial roadmaps, including modernization of legacy systems and adoption of cloud-native GIS deployments.
Program & Project Delivery
- Oversee the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical geospatial projects, including enterprise GIS upgrades, complex Esri UN projects, mobile workforce solutions and other innovative geospatial solutions.
- Implement robust project delivery methodologies tailored to the utility environment, balancing agile delivery with strict compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage project portfolios, ensuring alignment with capital programs, system integration timelines, and utility lifecycle planning.
Utility-Focused Use Case Enablement
- Lead the geospatial enablement of key utility workflows such as:
- Asset lifecycle and maintenance planning
- Outage and emergency management
- Vegetation management
- Field data collection and inspections
- Regulatory reporting (e.g., gas integrity, electric reliability)
- Ensure geospatial data is accessible and actionable across operational systems (e.g., ADMS, OMS, EAM, SCADA, ERP).
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and grow a team of GIS analysts, software developers, data engineers, and delivery managers with utility-specific domain knowledge.
- Promote a high-performance, customer-centric culture.
- Develop succession plans and capability-building strategies for internal teams.
Client, Stakeholder, and Regulatory Engagement
- Serve as a strategic liaison with utility executives, operations leaders, regulators, and external partners.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of regulatory data and spatial analysis to support rate cases, audits, and compliance.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships with key geospatial technology partners (e.g., Esri, GE Smallworld, etc.).
Technical Oversight & Innovation
- Guide solution delivery across on-prem and cloud GIS ecosystems (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise, Utility Network, Esri Utility Network Management Extension).
- Champion data governance and the integration of authoritative spatial data across systems of record.
- Promote innovation through AI/ML, LiDAR, UAV, and IoT-enabled spatial analytics for predictive maintenance and network insights.
Operational Management
- Oversee budgets, resourcing, and operational metrics for the geospatial delivery function.
- Track and report KPIs related to geospatial service levels, data quality, compliance, and field user adoption.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce delivery cycle times and enhance spatial data accuracy and utility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Engineering, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise geospatial delivery, with 5+ years in a leadership role within the utility industry.
- Expertise in utility GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Utility Network, GE Smallworld) and system integrations (e.g., SAP, Maximo, ADMS).
- Proven leadership in complex project delivery, team management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., CIM, GML, NENA) and best practices for spatial data governance.
- Understanding of utility operations and regulatory drivers (e.g., FERC, NERC, PHMSA, state PUCs).

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $175,000.00 - USD $221,541.00 /Yr.
