Department Summary
Genentech's pioneering Research and Early Development (gRED) group is seeking a passionate and innovative intern to join our vibrant Learning & Development (L&D) team as a Learning Program Specialist. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 6 months, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
  • Program start dates are in September (Fall).
  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

The Opportunity
Program Coordination & Execution

  • Within 30 days, familiarize yourself with our L&D calendar and assist in coordinating logistics for at least 2 upcoming workshops or events (calendar invites, materials, room/google meet setup).
  • By 60 days, independently own the logistics for a learning program, from pre-communication to day-of support.

Stakeholder Support

  • Assist with facilitator communications, tracking attendance, and managing learner inquiries.
  • Within 90 days, streamline one recurring task (e.g., attendance tracking, calendar syncs) and document the process for future interns.

Project Support & Data Tracking

  • Update project trackers and timelines regularly using tools like google sheets, Monday.com
  • Help gather, clean, and format data from learning surveys or LMS exports and create simple dashboards or summaries.

Enhance Learner Engagement

  • Within 30 days, audit key L&D communications and suggest improvements for clarity, tone, and consistency.
  • Within 60 days, draft and deliver communications (emails, intranet posts, job aids) for at least 3 learning campaigns with minimal supervision.

Support Learning Design & Experience

  • Co-develop learner surveys, pre/post assessments, and feedback forms for at least 2 live or digital learning events.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to a debrief session after each program by summarizing what worked, what didn't, and what can be improved.
  • Propose at least one tool, resource, or workflow enhancement based on your internship experience.
  • Research and recommend at least 3 new formats, tools, or content styles to improve the learning experience (e.g., interactive elements, gamification, social learning platforms).

Who You Are

Required Education (delete the options that do not apply for your position): You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program) OR
  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

Required Majors

Human Resources / Learning and Development or equivalent degree and/or experience.

Required Skills

  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.
  • Highly organized and dependable with strong time management skills.
  • Comfortable with Google Suite, Google Workspace, Gemini and other such tools.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and responding to shifting timelines.
  • Interest in project management, event coordination, learning, HR operations or design.
  • Strong written communication and content creation skills.
  • Curious about how adults learn and what makes learning stick.
  • Organized and self-motivated with attention to detail, with a positive attitude.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with learning platforms or tools (LMS,LXP, Tableau).
  • Basic data visualization or survey analysis skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $31.00-$40.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
