POSITION PROFILE (Job Summary)
This position is responsible for performing accounts receivable procedures completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities AND Results
Level I: The entry level technician will perform routine accounts receivable duties and responsibilities under general supervision including the following:
Reconcile customer account aging on a daily basis.
Daily contact with customers and other departments within the company.
Contact customers for past due invoices and respond to queries and research customer account issues.
Organize and maintain physical and digital records.
Perform any other related duties and assignments as required.
Level II: The intermediate level technician will perform the full range of accounts receivable duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision including the following:
Perform duties and responsibilities of Level I.
Assist in month/quarter/year-end closing procedures.
Research, resolve, and communicate discrepancies and outstanding balances on customer accounts to upper management.
Assist with tracking and maintaining AR aging for all companies.
Receives and processes credit applications from prospective credit customers.
Creates weekly and monthly miscellaneous invoices.
Assists in Daily, Weekly and Monthly Jetstream invoicing.
Audits Interline waybills and performs Interline desk duties.
Processes credit card waybill refunds.
Processes freight claim refunds into SAP.
Maintains expertise in Cargo Revenue Accounting.
Level III: The senior level technician will perform more complex accounts receivable duties and responsibilities that require specialized skills and knowledge with minimal supervision including the following:
Perform duties and responsibilities of Level II.
Assist in implementing and maintaining procedures and policies.
Act as a lead to monitor, support, and motivate the Accounts Receivable team.
Train new and lower leveled accounts receivable technicians in various AR functions.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications)
High school diploma or GED required; (II/III) associate's degree or higher preferred.
Minimum of (I) 1 year / (II) 3 years / (III) 5 years of related accounting experience.
Minimum of (I) 1 year / (II) 2 years / (III) 3 years customer service experience
Experience supporting AR for multiple companies.
Knowledge of airfreight transportation, SAP and SharePoint preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of accounting processes.
Ability to interact with outside customers and various levels of management and staff throughout the organization.
Proven ability to apply analytical skills to problem solving.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be a team player.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently.
Strong data entry and 10-key skills
Strong computer skills with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
Ability to exercise professional judgment and makes decisions in logical and rational manner
JUDGEMENT
Positions at this level have moderate decision-making authority. Actions taken by this position can impact financial reporting and require the application and interpretation of data, facts, situations, procedures and policy.
COMMUNICATION SKILL
Positions at this level have a high level of contact with management and staff throughout the organization. This position is expected to solve problems within policy guidelines while communicating with management within the division.
STRESS ON THE JOB
Positions at this level will encounter varying degrees of stress throughout the month as the financial records are closed and analyzed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Most work requires normal physical effort.
MANUAL DEXTERITY
Requires use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.
