Where you will work The Clarkston, Washington fiber location is a key component in Clearwater Paper's business strategy. Located on the border of Idaho and Washington, Clarkston provides a host of opportunities for those who love the outdoors including fishing, boating, camping, and skiing. What you will do The Fiber Cleanup/Mill Helper is an entry level position in Clearwater Paper's Fiber division, located at our whole log chip mill in Clarkston, Washington. This position ensures efficient flow of material in order to meet production demand and deliveries.
- Ensure efficient flow of logs, chips, and other material to maximize production and meet delivery requirements
- Perform regular and continual clean up in mill, shop, and plant site as directed
- Become proficient in the operation of at least 2 pieces of mobile equipment onsite
- Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, etc.)
- Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
- Maintain a clean working environment by complying with procedures and housekeeping responsibilities
What you will need To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
- Industrial or Paper Manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
- Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for entire 12-hour shift
- Able to lift, up to 40 lbs. frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. minimally. When lifting 50 lbs. and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
- Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
- Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays. Able to work overtime as needed.
- Starting Wage: $22.00/hr.
