Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Sr. Lean Manager to be based out of Harvey, IL. Reporting to Director of Lean, this person will be responsible for overseeing the execution of Lean methodology while collaborating with plant leadership to achieve plant and organization objectives. This position will work cross functionally across the organization fostering, promoting, and deploying the Atkore Business Strategy (ABS) while acting as a change agent for continuous improvement and facilitating lean daily management.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering (manufacturing or industrial preferred) or other related functional areas or work experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

What you'll do:



  • Collaborate with counterparts to develop a local lean strategy to achieve business objectives and financial targets.
  • Help lead/build a strong plant leadership team by mentoring and coaching talent, providing lean training, and participating in hiring talent.
  • Review P&L monthly with site leader to ensure alignment with lean productivity projects.
  • Facilitate lean daily management; develop and lead the path to Gemba.
  • Drive and execute lean and continuous improvement initiatives including value steam mapping processes, kaizen events, 5S and other lean tools and principles.
  • Engage with facility leadership to set specific targets to functionally and strategically achieve improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation metrics.
  • Develop, facilitate, and lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) activities to identify & prioritize improvement opportunities.


What you'll bring:



  • Minimum of 7 years' experience within a manufacturing operation leading lean and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Excellent training, coaching, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex problem solving and analysis and apply these abilities to product or service development and process improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Onboarding & Immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Begin building relationships with site contacts.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Manage Key Process Indicators and Targets To Improve (TTI) dashboards for Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Support productivity improvement projects in the plant and other transactional waste reduction initiatives.
  • Provide input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities specific to all parts of the organization.
  • Champion, Sponsor, or Facilitate process and transactional improvement Kaizens.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Identify, create, and sustain standard processes throughout the organization.
  • Partner with all functions to define process capabilities, assess gaps and develop gap closure plans.
  • Provide functional leadership with awareness, knowledge and guidance of Lean and/or Continuous Improvement principles, methodologies and tools to support achievement of ABS business objectives.
  • Mentor, influence, and develop potential lean practitioner candidates through their projects driving business change.
  • Conduct training of Lean and Continuous Improvement principles, methodologies and tools in both an office and manufacturing floor environments.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $120,800 - $166,100. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
