What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director, Enterprise Risk develops and implements RBC Bank risk management reports, systems, and processes to minimize Enterprise risks. This role is part of Group Risk Management - RBC Bank Risk Management and will be responsible for managing the RBC Bank Chief Risk Officer Report / Enterprise Risk Report and risk reporting to the RBC Bank Board and its committees. The Senior Manager will provide a key role in ensuring risk reporting to the RBC Bank Board is in accordance with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.

What will you do?

  • Supports Enterprise Risk Appetite Framework, Limits Policy and Governance processes across the first and second line.
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct assessment on Enterprise risk metrics across the bank for all risks - Credit, Market, Liquidity, Strategic, etc.
  • Development and enhancement of Enterprise-wide governance, policies and procedures.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of RBC Bank CRO Report to the Risk Committee of the RBC Bank Board, working in collaboration with risk contributors to ensure messaging is clear and reporting is sufficient.
  • Works with the RBC Bank Enterprise Risk Management Committee secretary to ensure proper coordination and escalation of materials to the Board.
  • Provides effective challenge on risk materials to be presented to the RBC Bank Board and its Committees.
  • Drives day-to-day Core Team activities to meet project milestones and keep functions on track.
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory developments, industry best practices and leading trends in risk management practices.
  • Regularly prepares status reports, performance metrics, presentations and Enterprise-wide guidance in accordance with the ERM program and financial industry regulations, ad-hoc and as requested by management.
  • Responds to regulatory, Internal Audit and external survey requests as required (e.g. Federal Reserve, OCC, DTCC etc.)
  • Provides review and challenge of 1LoD activities and committee reporting.
  • Supports Enterprise Risk transformation, remediation, and escalation activities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, or other related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Risk Management role in a Financial Services organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and facilitate change through collaborative effort.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and/or governance standards & processes (management and/or board level).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with various reporting, analysis, and presentation tools including MS Excel and Powerpoint.
  • General knowledge of key risk disciplines e.g., for all risks - Credit, Market, Liquidity, Strategic, etc.

Nice-to-have

  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Law or other related fields or Risk Management certification (e.g. FRM).
  • Prior work developing processes and controls related to Heightened Standards or Reg YY.
  • 3+ years of experience with risk areas, KPI and KRI.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management or leadership.
