Job Description

Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full-service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, powder coatings and Teflon. Current approvals include the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program, (NADCAP), Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company, Boeing Defense and Space, Boeing/Philadelphia, Boeing Long Beach, Grumman, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich, Bombardier, Cessna and Sikorsky among much else.

Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. As a defense contractor Protective Coatings Inc. is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp and is fully compliant with all relevant facets of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.

Position Summary:
Application Developer position will provide leadership for all system-related matters for Protective Coatings and interact directly with internal customers to address ERP Business System issues including programming, report writing and data analysis. This position will work closely with the Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, Quality and Finance groups to ensure that all necessary data is available to meet business needs. Understanding business functions and processes is also critical in this role.

Reporting Relationships:

The Application Developer will report to the Controller and Plant Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This position is an exempt position and acts as an advisory specialist to management or the employer's customers, such as programming and software business applications.
  • Analyzing detailed business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for the application.
  • Coding internally developed applications and/or configuring commercial-off-the-shelf applications using programming, scripting, and database languages.
  • Supporting application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements.
  • Provide end user support for ERP system and web programming related issues.
  • Candidates must be able to train and instruct others in software functionality and proper usage within the context of the business processes.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as an application developer
  • Programming language skills including but not limited to MS SQL, C#, .Net, HTML and VB script.
  • Strong collaborator and excellent communicator.
  • Must maintain elevated levels of customer service and good organizational skills.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP systems is preferred, but not required.

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or 5+ years in related field.
  • Advance knowledge of programming and maintaining databases.
  • 3+ years ERP experience programming in a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal Project Management skills.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $118,200 to $177,400 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
