Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here's how the role will make an impact: The Associate Manager, Global Corporate Communications is a strategic communications professional with a passion for corporate communications and media relations, including media analysis and outreach to the media, influencers and key stakeholders. Areas of focus media monitoring, corporate narrative, corporate social responsibility, legal, financial communications and storytelling with a goal to further enhance and build Viatris' reputation with external stakeholders. This person will be responsible for leading and executing the traditional media monitoring program in partnership with the department's Analytics function and an outside vendor. This person has experience with the media and will be responsible for understanding key themes and topics related to Viatris and its corporate strategy. This person reports to the Manager, Global Corporate Communications and is a key strategic advisor to the Global Communications and Corporate Brand team on corporate communications, media and media-related activity. Key responsibilities for this role include: INDIVIDUAL
Responsible for strategy, oversight and execution of daily and event-based traditional media monitoring and reporting and serves as a key partner in social media monitoring and reporting. Ensure alignment of reporting to strategic priorities of business -- requires thorough understanding of traditional and social media landscapes and daily partnering with vendor. Partner with Regional Communications Leads and other Corporate Affairs team members on monitoring parameters - industry trends respective to region/area, key outlets and reporters, etc. Closely monitor and evaluate current news cycle and trends to identify areas for thought leadership. Leverage expert and to-the-minute understanding of the media landscape in achieving overall Corporate Affairs and Viatris business goals. Oversee the organization and maintenance of the department's archive of media clips (broadcast, digital and print). Maintain familiarity with media archives to enable quick search and location of specific clips. Manage media requests in communications inbox partnering closely with the Manager of Corporate Communications and Media Relations. Review and track all external communications requests globally (media opportunities/inquiries, speaking opportunities, awards) to ensure alignment with corporate narrative and adherence to External Communications and Engagement Policy. Manage inquiry tracker and monitor for related coverage. Draft and respond to media inquiries as appropriate and assist in building media relationships. Track and analyze media coverage to better inform leaders about the news and what it means for their business. Contribute to strategy, design and execution of internal and external media rooms partnering closely with the Manager of Global Corporate Communications with the goal of reaching news stakeholders and enhancing existing stakeholder engagement. Internally liaise between vendor and internal teams to manage RSS feed. Externally this also includes highlighting Viatris in the news and the management of media resources. Develop briefing documents, peer research, company statements, Q&A and key messages as needed. Build and maintain tracker/library for all materials. Draft press releases, manage distribution process and help develop thoughtful pitches and supporting editorial plan content to amplify news. Research and develop media backgrounders. Develop and maintain corporate materials, including fact sheets, corporate presentations, boiler plate, etc. Conduct trainings on External Communications and Engagement Policy to colleagues globally. Craft strategic media relations plans that leverage key Viatris leadership to meet external objectives. Serve as an integral part of the Global Communications and Corporate Brand team, effectively partnering with colleagues to build, execute and continually refine external communications plans, as well as collaborate across the team to ensure integration and alignment of all activities.
FOR ALL AREAS ABOVE:
Determine key insights and metrics. Help define and provide input for monthly Corporate Affairs dashboard providing in-depth look at company trends in the media, journalists and outlets submitting inquiries and reporting on the company, and media room performance. Partner with analytics team and other members of the Global Communications and Corporate Brand to provide insights for inclusion in executive reporting. Conduct research, define trends, perform analysis and develop strategies to support the above areas of focus. Maintain a rich understanding of emerging trends in corporate communications and media relations and institute best practices.

Serve as a collaborative partner to other communications and Insights/Analytics professionals globally. Support the communications team in thinking proactively and strategically, leveraging external benchmarking and best practices to build a best-in-class Global Communications Corporate Brand organization with the resources we have. Promote and support Viatris' commitment to high standards of corporate compliance, quality, safety and ethics, and live and model Viatris' core values. Leverage analytics to generate insight and identify areas of opportunity. Provide the intellectual leadership, perspective and experience to encourage creative thinking around communications issues, continuous learning for all employees and energy to continue to grow and expand the business globally. Help determine use of department budget.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required with a specialization in Communications or related field preferred. 3 to 5 years' experience in PR (agency or corporate in-house) or media property. 3 to 5 years' experience in communications required. 3 to 5 years' experience in Media, Media Relations, or Corporate Communications preferred. Experience working with healthcare or pharmaceutical companies. Journalistic instincts and skills in uncovering and developing stories and proactive media opportunities. A deep understanding of the evolving media landscape, consistently keeping a pulse on new opportunities and platforms to tell our stories. Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills that are clear, concise and direct, with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work well across various teams and multi-task/juggle multiple projects and stakeholders. Strong presentation skills, poise and professionalism. Resourceful, entrepreneurial spirit. This role has remote flexibility, with preference to be based from an East Coast location.
