Automation Electrical Controls Technician

We're seeking a self-motivated technician with strong experience in designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the electrical systems that keep our facilities and equipment running. This is a great opportunity to work independently with advanced automated equipment and make a real difference in production performance.

This position is a full-time role scheduled for four nights per week (48 hours total), with flexibility in start and end times.

Key Responsibilities




  • Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of production equipment including motor controls, DC/AC drives, frying and baking equipment, extruders, sheeters, temperature instruments, burner systems, packaging machinery, electronic scales, and PLCs



  • Review and adjust equipment to meet safety, quality, and production standards



  • Program, troubleshoot, and repair or replace sensors, scanners, motors, vision systems, VFDs, and encoders



  • Upgrade control systems and support the integration of new and existing equipment



  • Create and implement electrical design standards and requirements



  • Select and operate hardware/software necessary for developing control systems



  • Diagnose electrical issues using schematics, relay logic, and test equipment



  • Support continuous improvement efforts around quality, efficiency, and service




Required Skills:



  • Formal training or practical experience in automation, electrical systems, or related industrial fields
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Familiarity with PLC operations, sensors, AC/DC drives, and motor controls
  • Ability to assist in installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems
  • Exposure to safety practices including lockout/tagout and general maintenance protocols
  • Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer skills to interface with control systems and maintain records
  • High attention to detail with a safety-first mindset
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
  • Clear, professional communication skills to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and leadership
  • Open to occasional work at other nearby plant locations.
