Solenis is seeking an EHSS Specialist to join our site leadership team. This role is responsible for fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, security, and process safety regulations. The EHSS Specialist will lead the development and continuous improvement of EHSS programs aligned with corporate policies and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, DHS, DOT, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability through employee engagement and proactive hazard identification

  • Lead site EHSS programs in alignment with Solenis' global strategy

  • Serve as the site's primary contact for EHSS audits, inspections, and regulatory communications

  • Collaborate across departments to embed EHSS practices into operations and strategic planning

  • Conduct regular safety observations and site assessments

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, SARA, OSHA)

  • Manage PSM and RMP elements, including PHAs, MOC, PSSR, and incident investigations

  • Oversee emergency preparedness, release prevention, and mitigation programs

  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports (Tier II, TRI, emissions inventories)

  • Manage site security and DHS compliance protocols

Training & Engagement

  • Develop and manage EHSS training programs and Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Facilitate investigations and corrective action plans

  • Lead safety committees and engagement initiatives to promote ownership of safety at all levels

  • Maintain certifications (e.g., EPA Method 22, Class 4 Drinking Water License)

Documentation & Systems

  • Maintain EHSS procedures, SDS library, and compliance records

  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of wastes in accordance with RCRA

  • Complete and manage digital reporting through systems like SAP

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.

  • Advanced EHSS certifications (e.g., CSP, CHMM) preferred.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of progressive EHSS experience in chemical manufacturing or similar high-hazard industry.

  • Strong working knowledge of PSM/RMP regulations and implementation.

  • Experience with ISO 14001 and Responsible Care management systems preferred.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of federal and state EHS regulations.

  • Proficient in MS Office and EHSS management systems (e.g., SAP, VelocityEHS, Intelex).

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills-capable of influencing at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and drive change in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts.

  • Requires on-call availability for emergencies and after-hours support.

  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) for training, audits, or corporate meetings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs, access elevated work areas, and navigate an industrial environment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

  • Will require use of PPE and participation in site safety drills and emergency response.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $91,800.00 and $153,100.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
