Job Title: Converting Operator

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for the set up and operation of the Bubble out Bag machine, Sheeter, Mini roll winder and the Rosenthal Sheeter. The Operator 1 will maintain optimum production rates and be familiar with all equipment, products, operating and reporting procedures, etc. This position will work closely with the Production scheduler to determine daily production priorities. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Set up, operate and provide preventative maintenance on the Bubble out Bag machine, Sheeter, Mini roll winder, and the Rosenthal Sheeter.
  • Communicate and troubleshoot equipment problems directly with the plant mechanic. Equipment used includes but is not limited to the following: Bubble Out Bag machine, Mini roll winder, the Rosenthal Sheeter, forklift, knives, tape guns, hand cart, saw, etc.
  • Pack retail cartons.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Making of sample kits.
  • Inventorying of production supplies.
  • Back up other positions as needed filling in for vacations, sickness, increased production etc. Includes back up of Operator 1 (extrusion) when necessary.
  • General cleanup.
  • Organize inventory
  • Break down and strap pallets
  • Compact and take garbage out to dumpster.
  • Organize pallets, sort out good and remove unusable ones.
  • Tear down uprights.
  • Maintain proper product dimensions. Assure product quality such as, material quality, side seals, etc. Complete associated quality documentation.
  • Assure all product is properly labeled, packaged and arranged for shipping. Ensure all box counts are correct.
  • Determine bag stock inventory needs. Keep bag stock organized for optimum space usage.
  • Complete production reports accurately and thoroughly.
  • Comply with and maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. Report all hazardous conditions to the Plant Manager or Safety Coordinator immediately for corrective action.
  • Maintain good employee relations. Adhere to Company policies and procedures. Refer all employee complaints, warnings, employee records and employee relations issues to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Assure good housekeeping practices within Company property.
  • Perform other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS



  • Equivalent to High School Math, English, verbal and written skills.
  • Mechanical ability required.
  • Experience in operating production equipment preferred.



SCHEDULED HOURS:

Current: Day, swing, and Graveyard shift

**Shifts rotate**

Current: Day 6:00am - 2:30pm

Day 8:00am - 5:00pm

Swing 2:00pm - 10:30pm

**Scheduled hours subject to change as determined by business needs**

Overtime

Requirements: Overtime and weekends as needed.

WORKING

CONDITIONS: Physically demanding work. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking and standing on a cement floor in a production environment. No air conditioning. Working around and with manufacturing machinery.

MEETINGS: Attend all required meetings, training sessions, etc.
