THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assess violation reports from the Pennsylvania State Police, the Emissions Program Manager, and Department Quality Assurance Officers to identify any breaches of safety or emissions inspection regulations. You will review hearing testimonies and suggest suitable penalties for official inspection stations, inspectors, and uncertified personnel as necessary. Additionally, you will prepare cases for the management team and engage in discussions to reach a consensus on any penalties to be applied. Your role will also involve providing interpretations of safety and emissions inspection regulation violations, as well as Department policies, to various stakeholders, including vehicle owners, law enforcement, attorneys, legislators, and inspection station personnel. Furthermore, you will develop, update, and maintain computer-based programs to monitor violation case information and analyze violation trends, compiling reports to evaluate program performance as required. Lastly, you will handle customer complaints or inquiries regarding interactions between vehicle owners and inspection station personnel, ensuring they are researched and forwarded to the appropriate agency for investigation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 75 hour bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Overtime authorized as required
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
