Quality Improvement Analyst
Job Summary This is a 50% Contract position. End date is one year from date of hire.
The QI Analyst will provide quantitative and qualitative programmatic and data analysis support to the clinical enterprises of the BOOST Initiative at the Multidisciplinary Assessment Center (MDAC). The MDAC BOOST Initiative is a SFGHF-funded program providing developmental support and education to caregivers of children diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disability at MDAC. The MDAC clinic is the only team-based diagnostic service of its kind in San Francisco, providing comprehensive developmental assessment, short-term intervention, and linkage to services for the City's most vulnerable population.
The majority of the data-focused work will involve the production of reports that will support the on-going assessment of clinical services delivered through BOOST Initiative, the creation of data dashboards for providers and staff at MDAC and SFGHF, and data analysis to support the educational mission of MDAC.
While the QI Analyst position has a strong focus on data analysis, the incumbent must be well-organized, comfortable working independently, have experience with direct patient care in a clinical setting, and be able to develop excellent rapport with patients and families. The incumbent must also be sensitive to and should have experience working with populations that are diverse in gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity and access public services.
The position requires self-initiative, as well as exceptional social skills and emotional intelligence in order to support children and their families as they access MDAC Boost services. The position reports directly to the MDAC Clinic Director, works closely with the MDAC clinical team and staff, and also reports to the Division Administrator and Chief
The QI Analyst must be able to carry out multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining critical attention to detail. It is imperative that this position diplomatically communicate between multiple parties to achieve the desired results and meet deadlines. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $136,100 (Annual Rate). To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.html Department Description The Department of Pediatrics at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) provides outpatient and inpatient (including neonatal intensive care) services to 13,000 patients annually consisting of approximately 35,000 annual clinic encounters and 10,000 inpatient days. Management of the department's outpatient clinic is by the clinical chief. The outpatient clinic or Children's Health Center (CHC) handles infants to adolescent preventive care through most emergent medical complaints. The department's inpatient services include its 18-bed children's ward and a 43-station neonatal intensive care unit. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or other healthcare profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and / or experience
- Bilingual Spanish
- Basic knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements
- Basic knowledge of QI models, tools, and techniques, including collection, aggregation, abstraction, analysis, and reporting of data
- Detail oriented, with organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently
- Acquiring problem solving skills to assess problems quickly and propose options for effective and timely resolution
- Basic interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with clinical and technical staff
- Basic ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and the ability to contribute to clear and concise reports, presentations, and documentation
- Basic knowledge of various administrative and business software packages
- Ability to operate effectively in a changing organizational and technological environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce reports, presentations and documentation
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Access, and software tools for organization, scheduling, correspondence, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with direct patient interaction in a clinical setting
- Experience working directly with a pediatric population and families
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience
- Working knowledge of specialized applications for clinical information systems and quality data management, such as i2i registry software, the Lifetime Clinical Record (LCR), and other SFDPH clinical data systems
- One year of experience working with underserved and/or community based programs and a proven track record of working well with diverse populations in a collaborative role
