Summary of Position:Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, assists the professional staff by performing a variety of paraprofessional and technical functions which contribute to the safety, care and comfort of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients and their families. Provides direct and indirect patient care, including technical skills and procedures, performs routine secretarial and clerical duties and participates in maintaining the environment. Education, Training & Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent * Ability to read, write and speak English * Graduate of state approved nursing assistant certificate program or 2 years experience as a direct care provider in a related clinical setting or a combination of education and experience acceptable to the Director of Nursing. Emergency Department positions preferred EMS training or medical corpsman experience. * Certificate of successfully completing a Patient Care Technician training program with presentation of competency based orientation and Basic Cardiac Life Support. Training must include phlebotomy and 12 Lead ECG. * Basic Life Support (BLS) training required. Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
