A leading publishing company is looking for a remote Staff Accountant to cover for a maternity leave. This position is anticipated to start in mid-August and anticipated to be thru early December. This position is covering the general accounting duties of account reconciliation, journal entries, involvement in the AP process for processing billing, month end close and supporting accounting projects.

Key Responsibilities



  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger balances.
  • Support the accounts payable process, including the review, coding, and processing of vendor invoices.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to recurring and non-recurring transactions.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of account analyses and financial reports.
  • Track and manage project accounting, ensuring costs are appropriately captured and allocated.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support audits and internal control initiatives by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement best practices in accounting operations.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or publishing environment.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Acumatica is a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
