Data scientists at TTD work closely with engineering throughout the lifecycle of the product, from ideation to productionization and monitoring. Our data scientists are end-to-end owners and deeply embedded into the engineering org. You will participate actively in all aspects of designing, researching, building, and delivering data-focused products for our clients and traders.

We are looking for a highly experienced and strategic Senior Staff Data Scientist to join the DS team in Buying org. In this role, you will lead advanced data science modeling initiatives that drive business impact. You will play a critical role in shaping our data science strategy, mentoring junior team members, and partnering with cross-functional leaders to embed data-driven decision-making into the core of our operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Strategic leadership

  • Identify high-impact opportunities where data science can drive significant business value or advance technology development in the company

  • Define and drive the data science long term research roadmap in alignment with company goals

  • Model development & innovation

  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced statistical/ML models with problem driven mindset and proactive risk management.

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI/ML techniques and assess their potential business applications.

  • Collaboration & Influence:

  • Partner with stakeholders across product, engineering, business, and executive teams to define data needs and translate business problems into data science solutions.

  • Effectively communicate insights and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Mentorship & Guidance:

  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists.

  • Establish best practices in data science methodologies, tools, and workflows.

  • Data & Infrastructure:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure data quality, availability, and reliability, design model rolling out plan, and monitoring dashboard.

  • Recommend and help implement scalable data and ML infrastructure.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You have a strong passion for building intelligent, data-driven systems that optimize performance at scale. You understand the complexities of ad auctions, bidding strategies, attribution, user behavior modeling, and real-time data processing and model deployment. You've worked with massive datasets and know how to turn noisy signals into actionable insights that drive revenue and efficiency.

  • You're a hands-on practitioner who can develop state-of-the-art models, but you also think strategically-identifying high-impact opportunities and aligning data science efforts with business goals.

  • You know how to influence product and engineering teams, navigate fast-changing priorities, and mentor others to elevate the team's capabilities.

  • You stay current with the latest in ML and AI, and you're always thinking about how to apply emerging techniques to deliver measurable results in a complex, fast-moving ecosystem.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

We do not expect you to know every technology we use when you start at TTD. What we care most about is that you can learn quickly and solve complex problems using the best tools for the job. However, we find that the most successful candidates typically come in with something like the following experience:

  • PhD or Master's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in data science (preferred in ad tech), with a strong portfolio of projects that have driven business outcomes. Experience as a tech lead is a plus.

  • Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver end-to-end data science solutions-from problem scoping and data exploration to modeling, validation, deployment, and post-deployment monitoring.

  • Proven experience translating business needs into scalable, data-driven solutions that are successfully implemented in production environments.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and impact at every stage of the solution lifecycle

  • Experience running heavy workloads on a distributed computing cluster (especially EMR or Databricks), leveraging technologies like Spark to work with large datasets.

  • Experience with modern machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost). Experience in LLM tools is a plus.
