Staffmark has partnered with a respected local college in Southwest Ohio known for its strong sense of community and commitment to educational excellence. We're seeking a Controller to join their team in Springfield, OH-a key financial leadership role with long-term impact and visibility across campus operations.

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Salary: $85,000 - $100,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

• Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers; prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
• Manage tax filings, including sales tax and 941 submissions
• Lead and coordinate annual audits, including preparation of footnotes and IRS Form 990
• Supervise staff managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and student accounts
• Oversee cash management, endowment activity, and investment operations
• Ensure compliance with FASB standards and manage fixed asset accounting
• Handle daily banking functions, including ACH, wire transfers, and internal fund transfers
• Collaborate with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Drive monthly close processes and cash-on-hand analysis

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required (Associate's with 5-7 years relevant experience will be considered)
• 3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit/higher education accounting practices
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with Ellucian Colleague, Fundriver, or similar accounting systems preferred
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Proven supervisory experience, including managing both exempt and non-exempt staff
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, confidentiality, and ability to prioritize
• Willingness to work on campus with occasional flexible hours
