DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a Senior Supervisor CLS, perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures in a section of the Department Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Other responsibilities include method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, and data entry. On a daily basis, assess overall workload for any area that needs help and help coworkers without being reassigned by the supervisor. Work is assigned daily and reviewed by supervisory personnel or designee. All Clinical Laboratory Scientists may process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests that are within their scope of licensure and for which they have been trained and deemed competent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree in scientific related field; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.

  • Must have current Clinical Laboratory Scientist or appropriate subspecialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.

  • General Clinical Laboratory Scientist (GCLS).

  • Must have at least two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.

  • Must have at least two (2) years of Point of Care Testing experience.

  • Familiarity with CLIA, CAP and State requirements for POCT.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.
  • Experience with Lab equipment maintenance, peer training, technical writing & Point of Care Testing.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $114,130 - $150,336 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $54.66 - $72.00

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
