Responsibilities
Fitness Supervisor The Fitness Supervisor partners with the Lifestyle Director to develop comprehensive fitness programs and activities for all care venues. This role implements and promotes health, wellness and physical activity to assist in the well-being and quality of life of the residents. The Fitness Supervisor also supervises the fitness center's operations, ensuring equipment is properly maintained, and the facility is clean and welcoming. Engages with fitness center patrons to ensure their needs are met, which include collecting feedback/requests for improvements and new programs. * Collaborates with Assisted Living/Memory Support Lifestyle Manager, Skilled Nursing Lifestyle Manager, Wellness Manager, and contracted Physical Therapist to streamline fitness programs for residents in all care venues. * Assists the Lifestyle Director in developing surveys and assessment tools to assess effectiveness of fitness programs and activities across all care settings. * Conducts train-the-trainer sessions for direct reports on delivery of community-wide fitness related programming. * Coordinates with Wellness Center nurses to obtain medical clearance for residents interested in participating in an individualized fitness program from their physicians. * Conducts one-on-one fitness assessments; designs and implements customized fitness program for residents of different ability levels. * Teaches a variety of land-based and aquatics exercise classes in the community. * Evaluates and responds to programming needs of residents pertaining to physical activity programs. * Interacts with staff, residents and/or family members to provide educational programs/consultation on health and fitness-related topics. Submits health and fitnessrelated articles for the newsletter. * Works with Lifestyle Director to deliver brain fitness programming to residents where appropriate and when applicable. * Assists corporate Marketing team and Lifestyle Director in promoting the Company (e.g., National Senior Health and Fitness Day). * Works with Director of Resident Services and Lifestyle team to implement Whole Person Wellness initiatives. * Oversees activity in fitness room and pool area on a daily basis, assisting residents on a formal and informal basis. * Conducts strength and cardiovascular equipment demonstrations on proper technique and ensures all residents have sufficient knowledge and skill when using the equipment. * Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, disciplining and terminating Fitness staff * Assists the Director with coordinating and hosting lifestyle events as assigned. * May perform CPR and render First Aid in emergency situations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: * Education: Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Gerontology or related field is required. Master's Degree in the field of Gerokinesiology is preferred. * Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in assessment, fitness program design and implementation of exercise programs for all ability levels is required. * Licensure / Certification: Group Fitness Group Fitness Instructor certification is required. Must obtain Balance and Mobility Instructor certification within 6 -18 months of hire if employee does not have a current certification. Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
Pay Range
USD $56,806.00 - USD $71,002.00 /Yr.
