Posting Summary
The Department of Biomedical Engineering ( BME) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks to hire an outstanding scholar for a one-year visiting research associate position on our New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. Although the search is open to several areas of biomedical engineering, we especially welcome applicants with experience in several ongoing and planned research projects including: 1) mitochondrial transplantation and transfer, 2) repair of the blood-brain barrier in traumatic brain injury, 3) using seaweed for scaffolds for tissue engineering applications, 4) development of specialized electroporation catheters to sample fluid and tissue from structures in the gastrointestinal system, and 5) development of novel wound healing technology.
The successful candidate will be housed in the BME building, have access to rich teaching, experimental, and computational resources in BME, and will engage with faculty and students within BME, engineering, and the University community at large. Job duties will include 1) performing cutting-edge collaborative research; 2) organizing a session in the NIH Rutgers Biotechnology Training Program's Topics in Advanced Biotechnology course; 3) offering an elective course related to Food Security that will be of interest to a broad range of science and engineering students; and 4) playing a role in furthering the institution's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence.

Minimum Education and Experience
Successful candidates will have a PhD in biomedical engineering or a related field; a significant record of securing competitive research funding; and a track record of nationally and internationally recognized scholarship in fundamental and translational research. We are also seeking candidates who bring broad experience and a proven track record of fostering diversity and inclusivity with many different populations.
