Job Summary
The research scientist will be working for Jiyoung Kim's Lab and his projects. This position requires extensively work on atomic layer deposition techniques, materials and electrical characterization using UHV tools, and cleanroom device fabrication related to advanced semiconductor devices, including FeRAM, MRAM, oxide semiconductor, GaN/SiC power devices, etc.

The incumbent will plan, conduct and direct a wide variety of experiments, be responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. The research scientist will conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures;
Plan and execute the details of experiments according to the research protocol.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's degree in field directly related to research - Two (2) years of experience/expertise performing research relating to a specified field of study - Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least eight years.
Preferred Education and Experience
PhD in Materials Science or related fields, such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.

  • More than 3 years of research experience after PhD degree.
  • Design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ultra-high vacuum systems
  • Thin film deposition systems (ALD, CVD, PVD, etc.) with surface chemistry
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing, fabrication, and characterization
  • Cleanroom expertise and Materials/electrical characterization
  • Device physics knowledge including radiation effects

Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher with background in materials science, or related fields. Position will focus on atomic layer deposition techniques, in-situ FTIR and electrical characterization using UHV tools, cleanroom device fabrication and electrical characterization including radiation effects.
