This position is responsible for maintaining accurate criminal history records for the Pennsylvania Central Repository and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). This involves the control, review, analysis, linkage, compiling, consolidation, and processing of legal documents for law enforcement data bases maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. Determinations are made in accordance with the operational requirements for the Bureau while ensuring compliance with the Pennsylvania Crimes Codes.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 2 reviews and processes various forms and legal documentation in order to provide an accurate criminal history in accordance with the Pennsylvania Crimes Code. This unit receives corrections due to erroneous information submitted via NATMS. This individual ensures the authenticity of the requestor is indeed from a police agency, Court System (which includes District and/or Magisterial Court, District Attorney's Office, Clerk of Courts and Probation Offices. Assist other sections within PSP such as PICS, Megan's Law, Access and Review, Expungements by correcting errors in a timely manner for their use within the guidelines of the law. Collects and examines the Criminal History Record Information. Determines finally dispositions, determines if the correction is plausible, if so proceeds to update the Criminal History database. CLEAN is used to query the Federal Bureau of Investigation Database for the purpose of determining if their database must be corrected to reflect the same information as he Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History database. Communicate orally and via written correspondence with various law enforcement agencies and public service agencies and the general public. Employee using the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Penal Code, Vehicle Code, Pharmacy Laws, Liquor Code, Drug and Cosmetic Act and other state legislation in carrying out duties. Research fingerprints from DNA and Megan's Law for use by the Central Repository in the creation and/or addition to an individual's criminal history file. Performs quarterly review of Interstate Identification Index (III) Synchronization Tape and makes necessary corrections. Corrects, updates, and modifies appropriately CCH and FBI via CLEAN Message. - Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess one year of customer service experience.
- You must possess one year of data entry experience.
- You must be willing to work onsite full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
