Description

The Buyer II is responsible for material purchases to maintain inventory levels by placing properly reviewed purchase orders, reviewing stocking levels, ordering controls, and managing vendor lead times through multiple locations for the company. As a Buyer II, you will evaluate inventory levels, maximize turns and completion rates, lead support of supplier/supply chain relationships, and support our customers through world-class customer service procedures.

Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:



  • Review usage and demand with all locations needed.
  • Review incoming requisitions for specification completeness.
  • Place and confirm orders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate database information to enable the processing of purchase orders, inventory variables (i.e. lead-times) and invoices
  • Confer with vendors on product/service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Communicate purchase order status with appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate/communicate changes in delivery dates and pricing.
  • Mitigate current and future risks associated with commodities and other needed products.
  • Manage transaction discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Document cost savings, inventory turns, and surplus levels.
  • Communicate marketplace trends to all internal customers.
  • Indirectly responsible for product quality.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelors' degree required, preferably in Business
  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a Buyer II (skills & industry related)
  • 3+ years of experience including the Delivery of Financial Results
  • Knowledge of Distribution and Channel Management preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft BI and/or the willingness to work on Microsoft BI in reporting, while being able to look at ordering controls of ERP, and update pricing as well as correct the Unit of Measure of products where required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Experience utilizing MS Office excel and skills using Pivot, V-Lookup, etc.
  • Experience in production supply & distribution business
  • ISM Certification preferred but not required
  • CSCP Certification preferred but not required


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the year.
