DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will oversee inmate work, including tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of the boiler plant at SCI Greene. One of your primary goals will be to ensure the efficient operation of heating and cooling equipment, both under normal and emergency conditions. You will also be in charge of utilizing manual and automatic control systems, as well as reading and interpreting visual and aural gauges, meters, and sensing devices. Furthermore, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining auxiliary equipment, such as feed water pumps, condensate pumps, and chemical feed pumps. Your attention to detail and knowledge of plant operations will be crucial in promoting a secure and functional environment for both staff and inmates.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 2:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with rotating days off.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
