About Salesforce

We're Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too - driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good - you've come to the right place.

We are on a mission to transform the developer experience within the Hyperforce program by building cutting-edge tooling through our Terraform Infrastructure Developer Experience (TIDE) team. Our team is passionate about simplifying workflows and making the public cloud accessible and "easy" for developers. We leverage technologies like Golang, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker to craft well-tested, production-grade tooling that empowers developers to effortlessly deploy infrastructure.

As the Director of Engineering for the Terraform Infrastructure Platform team, you will be a pivotal leader in shaping and executing the strategic vision for the developer experience across multiple cloud providers. You will lead a talented engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and empowerment. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional leadership to guide the team in building the next generation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling. You will be responsible for the overall success of the terraform platform team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, impactful solutions that meet the evolving needs of our developers.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for the TIDE team, aligning with the broader goals of the Hyperforce program and the company.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation, professional growth, and a strong sense of ownership.

  • Technical Excellence: Uphold and elevate the standards for well-architected, production-grade tooling. Provide technical guidance and oversight on the design, development, and maintenance of our Terraform and Golang-based solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership, product management, and other engineering teams to identify developer pain points, define roadmaps, and ensure the TIDE team's work is aligned with customer needs and company objectives.

  • Execution and Delivery: Drive the successful execution of complex technical projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality tooling and services. Implement and refine agile development processes to optimize team productivity and responsiveness.

  • Multi-Cloud Strategy: Spearhead the exploration and implementation of strategies to create a seamless and unified developer experience for infrastructure deployment across various cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, AliCloud, etc.).

  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for the TIDE team, effectively communicating project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Operational Excellence: Champion best practices for IaC, CI/CD, and DevOps. Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the tools and infrastructure managed by the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or a related field, with a proven track record of technical leadership.

  • 7+ years of experience in a management role, leading and mentoring engineering teams.

  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and extensive hands-on experience with Terraform.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, with a strong preference for Golang.

  • Significant experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Demonstrated experience in driving the strategy and execution for a technical product or platform.
