Job Summary:

The Director, Generative AI Integration Lead in the Global Scientific Communications organization will be responsible for building and implementing AI-powered scientific communication strategies in collaboration with Medical, Digital, and cross-functional teams. This role ensures that AI-driven approaches enhance Integrated Medical Communication Plan (IMCP) strategies, improve content creation, and optimize omnichannel delivery.

The AI Integration Director bridges dialogue across functions to transform medical engagement through AI technologies. This role will develop AI strategies aligned with business objectives, manage AI projects from inception through execution, and ensure adherence to high quality standards. This will require leading programs to build AI proficiencies across scientific communications, driving initiatives focused on ensuring quality, and collaborating across stakeholders to establish governance frameworks for responsible AI use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of AI-based strategies to enhance scientific communications, ensuring alignment with medical and digital objectives

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive roadmap outlining phased integration of AI technologies into medical communications processes with clear deliverables, milestones and timelines

  • Develop, execute and monitor effectiveness of change management plans for AI integration into scientific communications across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide regular reports to leadership detailing AI integration progress, performance, against KPIs and strategic recommendations for continuous improvement for AI in scientific communications.

  • Manage AI integration projects, overseeing the development and deployment of AI solutions that improve content creation, personalization and dissemination.

  • Build benchmarking and use case-based approaches for execution of AI-related initiatives to ensure quality and feasibility of AI applications.

  • Initiate, manage and ultimately scale pilot projects by testing and refining AI applications in scientific communications, analyzing outcomes to guide broader implementation strategies.

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to build AI fluency and capabilities within global scientific communications teams.

  • Engage with external experts, vendors and AI partners to drive innovation and ensure the scientific communications team will leverage best-in-class AI solutions

  • Drive best practices for responsible integration of AI into scientific communications, ensuring ethical, compliant and high-quality AI-generated outputs for scientific communications.

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and external trends to integrate the latest advancements into scientific communications strategies

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Master's degree in science, medicine, or pharmacy.

  • 7 or more years of related generative AI and/or scientific communication medical affairs work experience.

  • Experience in generative AI, including prompting, AI models, and AI-driven content personalization.

  • Experience leading AI initiatives within a matrix organization and working cross-functionally with Data Science, Digital, Medical Affairs and Content teams to drive success.

  • Experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and Team sites as well as use of generative AI models (CPT, Claude, LlAMA, Gemini, etc)

  • Experience managing external AI vendors, budgets and project timelines to deliver high-quality AI solutions

  • Experience with regulatory, medical and legal requirements for AI-related initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Postgraduate degree (PhD or PharmD).

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.

  • Ability to translate complex AI concepts into practical applications that enhance medical content and stakeholder engagement.

  • Effective time management, ability to clearly identify priorities, and manage multiple tasks.

  • Local, regional, or global medical, Analytics or R&D experience.

  • Scientific communication strategies for large global markets in US, UK, EU, China and Japan

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $165,000 to $275,000 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
