What You Will Do:

  • Apply various supplier management techniques, including supplier qualification, certification and evaluation to analyze risk and ensure business continuity and contingency planning.
  • Identify barriers to quality improvement, analyze their causes and impact and implement methods for improvement.
  • Support the development of Quality Information System (QIS) including who will contribute data, the kind of data to be managed, who will have access to the data, the level of flexibility for future information needs and data analysis.
  • Analyze the design and alignment of interrelated processes to the company strategic plan and core processes.
  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyze production and service limitations and standards. Attend the daily production meeting to understand quality-related issues and urgent production needs
  • Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics and technical drawings.
  • Provide design inputs critical to quality and apply evaluation tools to assess risk such as failure mode and effect analysis.
  • Perform quality audits such as product, process, management, registration, compliance, first, second and third party.
  • Formulate or helps formulate quality assurance policies and procedures and recommends revision of specifications.
  • May conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools.
  • Interface with all other functions within the organization and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.
  • Identify, describe, and apply elements of the corrective action process, including
    problem identification, failure analysis, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, problem correction, recurrence control, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately as noticed
  • Participate in Lean events with active involvement in CI initiatives
  • Other duties or projects as assigned or asked to participate.

Position Details:

  • Candidate must reside in: Houston TX, or surrounding areas
  • Work week and shift: Monday through Friday, will discuss daily schedule upon interview
  • Compensation package offered: Competitive bi-weekly salary and annual incentive plan bonus
  • New hire orientation is provided
  • Cubicle and/or lab workspace in a manufacturing facility

  • PPE requirements include safety glasses and steel toes, hard hats, lab coat, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • 0 to 3 years of related experience in the field and with similar products
  • Comfortable giving technical presentations/interfacing with customers and suppliers
  • Risk assessment skills and ability to exhibit sound judgment in decision making
  • Knowledge and adherence to quality standards and manufacturing processes
  • Logical thinking, deductive reasoning, and attention to details
  • Cause and effect analysis skills
  • Solid understanding of engineering mechanics, fluid flow and pneumatics
  • FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team environment with strong organization skills
  • Proficient with software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, and Adobe.

    Physical Demands:

    • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
    • Minimal kneeling, crawling, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 40 lbs. up to 10%
    • Occasional bending, crouching, balancing, lifting 10 lbs. up to 20lbs, and handling, grasping, holding, turning, working with hands between 11% and 33%.
    • Constant picking, pinching, collating/filing, using a keyboard and mouse, viewing a computer screen, dialing, sitting, walking, standing, seeing, hearing, writing and speaking greater than 66%.
    • Working in an environment where the job is performed under some temperature variations and hazardous conditions.
    • Maybe exposed to typical manufacturing noises.
    • Facility is climate controlled but may occasionally reach above average temperatures.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 3-4 years of experience with Quality Management Systems
    • Certified Internal Auditor
    • CMM Operations and Analysis
