Training Specialist II Job Summary: The Training Specialist is responsible for leading the Operator Fundamentals training program for new Production employees and manage the Production Pay-for-Progression (P4P) process. This role ensures new hires are properly onboarded through structured, hands-on training during the first 90 days, and that Production training records are up to date in KPA and Workday. In addition, the Training Specialist will support Maintenance, Quality Assurance (QA), and Material Handling (MTC) by administering shared safety and applicable equipment training (forklift, LOTO, mule, STOMP..etc) and serving as a P4P documentation lead, working in close partnership with department leaders to help structure and track progression plans. This includes managing documentation in KPA/Workday, and supporting audit readiness through accurate training records and procedural compliance. Key Responsibilities: Operator Fundamentals - Production Training
- Lead and manage the 90-day Operator Fundamentals onboarding program for Production new hires.
- Provide hands-on training in core production processes (ERP system transactions, blender operations...etc)
- Serve as the administrator of the Production P4P program, ensuring all progression tests and results are tracked in KPA.
Shared Safety & Equipment Training
- Deliver training for equipment and safety procedures applicable across departments:
- Forklift certification (initial and recertification)
- Mule driving training
- Aerial lift training - JLG and scissor lift
- Safety procedures including LOTO, STOMP, and PPE standards
- Support onboarding needs in Maintenance and MTC as applicable
Training Standardization and Documentation
- Lead the Production P4P process, including test administration, tracking in KPA, and employee progression updates
- Serve as the P4P system administrator for Maintenance, QA and MTC, assisting with test uploads, tracking, and documentation data in KPA
- Collaborate with Maintenance, QA and MTC leadership to define role-specific progression steps
- Establish clear guidelines for onboarding, cross-training, and advancement paths.
- Evaluate processes, procedures, and systems for continuous improvement
Audit and Compliance Readiness
- Maintain accurate training records in KPA
- Support internal and external audits with accurate training documentation from KPA.
Qualifications:
- Experience in training coordination or technical instruction, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree and or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Forklift certification and hands-on experience with mule, JLG, and scissor lifts strongly preferred
- Familiar with equipment certifications and operational OSHA safety standards.
- Technically savvy and familiar with learning management systems, content creation platforms, experience with KPA, Workday and Pay-for-Progression programs
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail in documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across various functional teams
- Analytical thinking to assess training effectiveness and identify skill gaps
- Ability to adapt and support change management by being an agent for change.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to train across departments
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and adhere to safety protocols.
- Regular presence on the production floor, in maintenance area, in the QA lab, and in the warehouse/material handling environments.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate throughout the facility for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to operate or demonstrate operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts, mules, JLG boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
- May be required to work at elevated heights when providing hands-on training or assessments for aerial equipment
- Must be able to work in environments that may be loud, hot, humid, cold, or dusty, depending on the area and time of year.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses & goggles, ear protection, and gloves, as applicable.
- Work schedule may require flexibility to accommodate training
