DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will utilize a personal computer to review and process both basic and complex applications related to motor vehicles and driver licenses. Your responsibilities will encompass the renewal and replacement of various types of licenses, including regular, commercial, occupational limited, probationary, and ignition interlock licenses, as well as non-driver photo identification cards. Additionally, you will update medical certifications for commercial driver licenses, handle driver license restorations, process requests for paid information, and manage cases involving bad checks or refund requests. You will also be tasked with reviewing applications for vehicle ownership transfers, whether from existing Pennsylvania vehicles or those purchased out of state. This includes issuing a variety of registration plates, such as special organization plates, vanity tags, and seasonal or farm plates. Furthermore, you will process requests related to imported or exported vehicles, odometer reading corrections, salvage vehicle titles, and regular motor vehicle registration renewals. Your role will require a comprehensive understanding of the Motor Vehicle Code and the regulations established by the Department of Transportation regarding registration and licensing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may require mandatory overtime as needed.
  • May be required to work when a full day and/or partial-day office closing is authorized. To include but not limited to: early dismissals for inclement weather; the day before holidays and special holiday closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
