Position Overview

The Sr. Lean Process and Governance Specialistplays a critical role in driving operational excellence and ensuring robust governance across multiple test platforms across Exact Sciences clinical laboratories. This position is responsible for assessing, mapping and streamlining existing processes within laboratory operations to enhance productivity using Lean methodologies. They will also track and create key performance indicators and other metrics to measure efficiency and make data-driven recommendations for improvement. The Senior Lean Process and Governance Specialistwill also be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities

This position is field based in Madison, WI.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop, maintain and improve bespoke flow diagrams and other Lean solutions for commercial products or high-volume clinical trials for Labs across the Exact Sciences network. Leverage cross-functional resources as required to achieve goals.
  • Lead and execute Lean or Flow transformation projects as assigned. Utilize change management tools and techniques to ensure sustainable adoption.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of process improvements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management to evaluate and implement improvements in process workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Cross-functional work with lab managers and stakeholders to promote and lead change management initiatives and ensure the longer sustainability and integration of workflow improvements.
  • Design, implement and continuously improve real-time dashboards to visualize key performance metrics across the clinical laboratories.
  • Generate and distribute regular performance reports to leadership with actionable insights.
  • Ensure data accuracy, accessibility and relevance for stakeholders.
  • Identify and creatively solve cross-functional and internal issues that get in the way of successful outcomes, managing priorities accordingly. Utilize external Lean resources as appropriate.
  • Champion a data-driven decision-making culture, using Lean tools to identify bottlenecks, prioritize opportunities, and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously refine laboratory performance thresholdsto ensure optimal operational efficiency and quality standards.
  • Recommend and collaborate with cross-functional teams to adjust thresholds based on evolving business needs, data trends, and process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot with laboratory managers and directorsto assess real-time operational bottlenecks and implement targeted workflow adjustments that eliminate sample backlogs, optimize resource allocation, and maintain turnaround time commitments.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location may include overnight/weekend travel.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific or related field.
  • 6+ years of laboratory experience, 3+ years of Laboratory Information System operating and data utilization knowledge.
  • 2+ years experience in monitoring and analyzing key laboratory metrics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of lab processes, TAKT time, interpreting and analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean, Flow, Six Sigma training/experience or certification.
  • Experience in working with data repositories such as Databricks.
  • Experience in SQL and Python.

Salary Range:

$67,000.00 - $119,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
