Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist

Duration: 6+ Months (Contract to hire)

Pay Rate: $28/hr. on W2 without benefits

Shift Timing: 2nd Shift 3:30pm- 12:00AM (Mon-Fri)

Position Summary:

  • Sets up and operates CNC lathes/mills on all product parts with proven and unproven programs.
  • Produces machined fittings per blueprint specifications and work instructions.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Runs multiple machines efficiently, which may require simultaneous operations.
  • Creates standard machining programs using I.G.F Software. Proves out and edits programs.
  • Implements manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling. May advise and assist with tooling design.
  • Makes complex setups, which may include multiple work piece stations, utilizing custom and standard holding devices.
  • Trouble shoots and resolves machining problems.
  • Inspects finished parts for conformance to specifications by visual examination, and utilizes precision measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and surface plate techniques.
  • May be required to use coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Ensures equipment is calibrated in accordance with schedule.
  • Able to set up and run a minimum of five CNC machine types.


Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • How many years of experience do you have operating CNC lathes (Mill experience a plus) in an aerospace manufacturing environment?
  • What types of CNC lathes (Mill experience if applicable) have you worked with (e.g., Okuma, Mazak, Haas)?
  • Can you describe your experience with setting up and editing CNC programs at the machine?
  • Are you comfortable reading and interpreting aerospace blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)?
  • What types of aerospace materials have you machined (e.g., titanium, Inconel, aluminum)?
  • How do you ensure part accuracy and quality during production?
  • What inspection tools are you proficient with (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs)?
  • Have you worked in a cleanroom or followed AS9100 or NADCAP standards?
  • Can you describe a time you had to troubleshoot a machining issue on a lathe (Mill experience if applicable) ?
  • Do you have any formal CNC machining certifications or training (e.g., NIMS, trade school)?
