HOURLY RATE: $35.29

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities. Successfully performs work as an individual, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft work crew.
  • Complies with craft and shipyard safety measures.
  • Consistently exceeds Journeyman criteria.
  • Responsible for assembling staging as directed.
  • Responsible for all phases of scaffolding, shoring, and stair tower building.
  • Works from ship specifications, work orders and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
  • Researches and suggests written comprehensive condition found reports (CFRs).
  • Responsible for being conversant in all quality assurance requirements.
  • Responsible for installation of various types of insulation.
  • Reads blueprints and performs layout work.
  • Performs joiner work and installs marine panels, ceiling systems, doors, and jams.
  • Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Communicates effectively, work independently or in a group.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.

Working knowledge of the following processes:
  • Fiberglass repair procedures
  • Building pudding blocks
  • Putting up blast protection
  • Installation and repair of furniture and fixtures


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.

Journey Level Support
Demonstrated proficiency in 1 of the support groupings and knowledge of a core/main ship repair area (1 certification or equivalent) OR demonstrated proficiency of 2 support services areas. Requires some supervision to perform more complex jobs/tasks but is able to perform majority of job duties independently, with minimal supervision.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Four-hour fire watch certification, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • HAZWOPER - First Responder Awareness Level.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
  • Interaction/communication with others, continually interacts with others to coordinate work effort and ensure safety.
  • Works alone/independently, frequently works in the company of others while performing construction tasks.
  • Directs/supervises others, not required.
  • Repetitive work, Work consists of performing simple tasks, i.e., lifting/pulling construction materials throughout the day.
  • Attention to detail, must carefully use power tools to prevent harm to self or others. Must observe surrounding area while lowering supplies.
  • Flexibility, Plan of action changes in the course of the day.
  • Other mental/psychological demands, none.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Works indoors, frequently works indoors, inside ship.
  • Works outdoors, frequently works outdoors constructing scaffolding for other employees.
  • Safety equipment required, uses hard hat, eye protection, safety harness, hearing protection, respirator.
  • Other Exposures, May be exposed to smoke, fumes, free silica, asbestos, dust, oil, grease, and heights.
  • Operation of equipment/tools/vehicles, Table saw, band saw, planer, jointer, wood lathe, drill press, sanders, tape measure, overhead crane, forklift, miscellaneous hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.).
  • Required hygiene standards, Per company standards.
