Job Description:

As an Associate Crew Scheduler at Southwest Airlines, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every flight is safely and efficiently staffed by applying your knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), and company policies. Supporting both Flight Attendant and Pilot scheduling, this entry-level role offers hands-on training to build expertise in all aspects of Crew Scheduling. You'll work across multiple systems to resolve complex scheduling challenges in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to demonstrate strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication. Whether working independently or as part of the Team, your focus will be on delivering Legendary Customer Service and Hospitality to our Crews while ensuring compliance and operational excellence. Your work will directly impact the reliability of our operation and the experience of our Employees and Customers which helps Southwest take to the skies with confidence, care, and coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Successfully complete classroom training, on the job training and demonstrate proficiencies to operate independently in the Associate Scheduler position
  • Administer and maintain Crew Member schedules in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to create, analyze and process trips and reroutes, provide accurate and timely notification to Crew Members for duty assignments using a multi-line phone system and a computer with multiple software programs/monitors
  • Record and track information pertaining to Crew Members schedules utilizing the crew tracking system and efficiently schedule Crew Members
  • Make cost conscious, time sensitive decisions that are compliant with Federal Aviation Regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Company policies and procedures
  • Execute and resolve complex tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work in tandem with other Schedulers and other Southwest Airlines operational personnel in rescheduling, routing, and communicating schedule changes to our Crew Members during irregular operations
  • Provide Hospitality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with Employees
  • Assist Crew Members with applicable schedule adjustments when automated functionality is not available
  • Assist with daily and monthly checklists/reports
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to intentionally learn, retain and apply Federal Aviation Regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency on all Crew Scheduling applications
  • Skilled in critical thinking with the ability to exercise good judgement to make decisions and resolve complex tasks efficiently in a timely manner
  • Skilled in organization and performing concurrent tasks to maintain focus on critical details work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to independently work under tight time constraints and in high stress situations to accomplish assignments
  • Ability to effectively communicate by email, telephone, records keeping systems and in person
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations using decimals and/or hours and minutes, both with and without a calculator
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a Team
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:
    • Customer Service and Hospitality
    • Utilizing multiple computer programs to perform job duties
    • Working a fast-paced, multi-variable influenced, critical thinking position
  • Aviation operational experience is preferred
  • Crew Scheduling or Call Center experience is preferred

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including morning, evening and midnight shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and extended shifts when needed

Competitive market salary from $69,220 per year to $70,500 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual

contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
