Campus Safety at the Prescott Campus is hiring professional and service-oriented individuals for a dual-role position as Safety Officer / Dispatcher. This role is essential in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment through active field response and dispatch operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a visible presence on campus, supporting safety and community engagement.

  • Respond to fire, medical, and security-related calls.

  • Support armed officers in the field during incidents and routine operations.

  • Operate in the Communications Center, answering emergency calls and dispatching appropriate services.

  • Protect university property through regular patrols and monitoring.

  • Participate in campus events and community safety initiatives.

  • Work various shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed

The hourly pay for this position is $17.50 an hour.

Qualifications

High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math

1-3 minimum of years related to work experience

Required licenses, certificates, and /or security clearances:

No felony convictions, must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Valid Arizona Driver's license, Must meet the University's standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):

  • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
  • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year

A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.

AZ DPS unarmed guard card.

CPR/AED

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

Individual must have excellent verbal communication abilities. The position requires the ability to write legibly, speak clearly, and manage multiple and sometimes stressful tasks (involving radio, phone, and personal communications) at the same time. At least one to three years experience in law enforcement, corrections, military, or similar role in security.

Must pass annual department physical fitness assessment.
