What We DoProvides clear communication of catering events using department protocols and processes to all employees as necessary for the success of on-campus events.

Essentials Functions

  • Provide a wide range of support within a functional area.
  • Coordinate and gather customer event requirements such as number of guests, event dates, etc.
  • Book appropriate rooms, audio/visual requirements, room set up and auxiliary requests into the reservation.
  • Plan food and beverage menus in accordance with clients' preferences and special requests, such as gluten-free or vegetarian options, with direct communication to Executive Chef.
  • Prepare daily catering schedule and kitchen prep schedule with direct contact to Executive Chef regarding menu options and/or special requests.
  • Monitor the communal cafe email for updates, changes, revisions, additions and implementation as needed.
  • Provide weekly status updates to the Chef and Operations Manager on ordering of goods and staffing as necessary for future events.
  • Assist with deliveries of catered goods to campus event locations on an as-needed basis.
  • Follow functional area's processes and procedures in daily activities, troubleshoot as needed, and recommend suggestions for continuous improvements to overall operations.
  • Actively contribute to the results of a team and work toward achieving goals and objectives.

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used

  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of department/field
  • Understanding of food hygiene
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions to provide solutions under stressful circumstances
  • Flexibility to work evening events
  • Establishes effective working relationships at the work group level

Typical Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Licenses or Certificates

  • Certification in food handling as required by State

Typical Range of Experience

  • 1-3 years of directly related experience in roles such as a Customer Service Representative
  • Experience with menus, food offerings and terminology

The pay range for this role is $21.00 - $25.00 p/hr.

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
