The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

This 2-month grant-funded Research Assistant position will work in the Chen Group at the Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, using interdisciplinary methods to study the electrochemical capture and conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2). The group, directed by Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Jingguang Chen, has an open part-time position for a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work directly with the Principal Investigator to investigate CO2 capture and conversion. Under the direction of the PI, the Research Assistant will perform research-related administrative tasks, including performing electrochemical experiments, analyzing reaction products, and writing and creating content for manuscripts for publication or conference materials for presentations. The Research Assistant will participate in regular research meetings and planning sessions.

Responsibilities




  • (20%) Run multiple projects in parallel, in collaboration with PhD students and postdocs, maintain a clear, organized, up-to-date notebook, and interact well with their supervisor and others in the laboratory



  • (40%) Perform research-related administrative tasks, including performing electrochemical experiments, analyzing reaction products, and writing and creating content for manuscripts for publication



  • (40%) Collaborate closely with PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and other team members to support experimental design, data collection, and troubleshooting.




Minimum Qualifications



  • Minimum 0-3 months of experience in a research environment.
  • High-school Diploma or equivalent required.
