Job Summary

The UCSF San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education (SJV PRIME) Coordinator (UCSF-based) will need to work independently and with very little direction from leadership as they will apply knowledge about curriculum, requirements, and educational activities to plan and execute a multitude of activities new and recurring for professional health education programs. Coordinates logistics, implements and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, such as Advanced Regional Information: Summer Education, (ARISE), ALIGN (lecture seminars), AHEC-affiliated Summer Research Community Engagement (ASPIRE)/ SJV PRIME Day - schedules, Professional Identify (PI) program curriculum as well as perform and manage administrative services to support the UCSF San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education (SJV PRIME) in the first years of medical school.

The SJV PRIME Coordinator manages complex programmatic functions and tasks to ensure that SJV PRIME medical student program objectives are adequately supported and achieved. This position is jointly supervised by the SJV PRIME Administrative Program Manager at the Fresno Campus as well as the SJV PRIME US Administrative Faculty Director at San Francisco.

The SJV PRIME Coordinator will work with the Fresno-based SJV PRIME Administrative Manager and SJV PRIME Program Director based at UCSF on all aspects of SJV PRIME including admissions, curriculum, support, outreach, service learning, evaluation/reporting, technology, budgeting/finances, and social media. Duties will include planning and implementing program-related meetings, planning and managing logistics for events, and travel; preparing curriculum materials and arranging seminar logistics; communicating and working alongside participating faculty and students; interacting with community-based partners; tracking student and program activities; doing background research to inform evaluation and reports; entering, manipulating and organizing evaluation data; creating reports and proposals; creating manuscript preparation and submission for publication; managing the program website and social media activities, and purchasing materials and equipment. The position requires a strong experienced professional that can independently support and utilize their diverse, project management and administrative skills, have excellent organizational and communication skills, and be aware of cultural humility.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $83,700 - $125,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Assessment, Curriculum and Evaluations (ACE) Unit is the administrative team in the School of Medicine, Dean's Office, Medical Education that operationalizes and directs the design of the MD curriculum, student assessment and program evaluation. Working closely with faculty and SOM Medical Education Deans, the ACE consists of several subunits that manage the day-to-day operation of curriculum design, implementation, delivery and learner support. The teams in ACE design, conduct, promote, evaluate, and support medical education programs in compliance with organizational objectives and nationally accepted accreditation standards and requirements. The ACE teams support learners in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessment, and evaluations. The ACE team coordinates all activities associated with ongoing administration of medical education programs.

SJV PRIME is a tailored track at UCSF School of Medicine for medical students who are committed to ensuring high-quality, diverse and well-distributed medical care to improve health for populations, communities, and individuals in California's San Joaquin Valley. SJV PRIME offers interested medical students the unique opportunity to work in the San Joaquin Valley with highly underserved populations at the individual and community level. It incorporates the unique expertise of UCSF, UC Merced, and UCSF Fresno faculty, as researchers, educators, and leaders in the field of health care in the Central Valley. Students accepted into the SJV PRIME program will spend their first 18 months at the main campus in San Francisco and transition to the UCSF Fresno campus for the remainder of their medical school training. Plans are underway to develop an 8-year BS/MD program where students will be completing all their training in the central valley. . They will then spend the next 2 years at the UCSF Fresno campus.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years directly relevant experience.
  • 3+ years Proven project management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.
  • Excellent communicator; includes verbal and written, active listening and critical thinking skills. Ability to handle sensitive personal information with appropriate discretion and judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem-solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work with extremely complex faculty calendars/schedules requires extremely well organized and detail-oriented precision.
  • Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive.
  • Ability to travel between San Francisco and Fresno campuses or other community sites.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in related area preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.
  • Knowledge of Endnote and Qualtrics and Smartsheet.
  • Prior UCSF experience.
