Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Junction City location. As a Production Supervisor, you will report to the Operations Manager and will directly lead and manage the production and shipping operations to ensure that output is maximized at the lowest cost while maintaining safety and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Accept personal responsibility for your own safety by working to maintain a safe work environment and evaluating all tasks utilizing the SLAM risk protocol. Report all near hit incidents, unsafe acts, or situations and injures immediately to the Operations Manager.


  • Administer all facets of the safety and health policies while adhering to the SLAM risk method within the sphere of all tasks.
  • Advise the Operations Manager of potential problems that might affect the plant's ability to produce in a safe and/or efficient manner.
  • Learn MSHA and Covia safety requirements and policies and ensure compliance.
  • Lead safety training in the form of group meetings or individual training.
  • Identify additional training needs for plant personnel and follow up on completion.
  • Maintain product quality standards.
  • Promote "Good Housekeeping" activities plantwide.
  • Manage production activities which can include:


    • Barge and Mobile Equipment Operations
    • Wet Processing and Float Operations
    • Drying and Screening
    • Bagging, Warehouse and Loadout


  • Lead the workforce to meet production goals, while minimizing cost and maximizing efficiency and productivity.
  • Work with other supervisors and ensure continuity of tasks and efforts from shift to shift.
  • Monitor manpower requirements and recommend changes.
  • Cross train and develop personnel to ensure redundancy.
  • Collect, check, and forward all necessary labor and operating reports.
  • Manage staff attendance and vacations in a staffing management software.
  • Log Safety Reports in safety tracking software.
  • Initiate and follow-up on maintenance requests and manage work orders in IFS.
  • Interact professionally with all Covia employees and customers.
  • Provide a positive image of Covia to the public.
  • Actively look for and promote opportunities to improve the operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 2 years production and shipping experience is required.
  • The ideal candidate will be a leader with prior experience supervising in an industrial or mining environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office software.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required.
