What's involved in this role: The Packager Lead position ensures the final product produced is packaged in the most sanitary and efficient way possible to meet customer needs and the overall goals of the organization. The Packager Lead will work in all areas of the packaging as needed assisting each role of department. The packager lead will also help oversee the sanitation activities of the packaging department working with the production supervisor.
- NIGHT Shift: 7p-7a, 2-2-3 schedule
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fresh Stick Area
- Operate conveyors pre spiral freezer for production.
- Direct product to the rework line as needed.
- Operate the rework system for production.
- Sanitation of the fresh stick conveyors.
- Sanitation of the rework system.
- Maintain brine fat removal system during production.
- Spiral Freezer
- Complete proper startup of the spiral freezer.
- Complete proper shutdown and CIP of the spiral freezer.
- Maintain operation of the spiral freezer during production.
- Complete sanitation CIP documentation.
- Xray Systems
- Complete proper set up of Xray machines.
- Complete proper shutdown and washdown of Xray machines.
- Complete performance checks of Xray machines.
- Maintain proper documentation for production.
- Trouble shoot Xray machines.
- Product Sorters
- Complete proper set up of Key Sorters.
- Ensure correct product recipes are loaded based off production schedule.
- Understand how to interrupt reject data from machine and relay to production.
- Complete shutdown and washdown of the sorters.
- Ability to determine if sorters are performing within expectations.
- Tote Fill Area
- Operate conveyors on the tote fill line.
- Manually insert tote liners into built totes.
- Manually build totes as needed.
- Proper placement of barcodes on totes.
- Manually level and de-cuff tote liners after fill.
- Complete sanitation of the conveyers.
- Operate the sorter reject conveyor.
- Dry Pack Area
- Operate the tote erector.
- Trouble shoot the tote erector.
- Clear jams on the tote erector.
- Fill glue for the tote erector.
- Complete dry cleaning of tote erector.
- Place tote lids on finished totes.
- Operate the dry pack finished tote conveyors.
- Operate the pallet inserter.
- Operator the pallet wrapper.
- Operate the pallet stacker.
- Change wrap and pallet wrapper.
- Trouble shoot pallet inserter, pallet wrapper and pallet stacker.
- Manually enter totes into pallet labeling system.
- Change labels and the pallet labeler.
- Complete packaging paperwork and pre-ops.
- Forklift Responsibilities
- Load totes into tote erector.
- Load pallets into pallet inserter.
- Load totes of product into rework system.
- Remove product totes from packaging line as needed
- Retrieve necessary items from dry storage.
- Move totes of salt-to-salt room as needed.
- Other duties as needed in the department.
- Storage Freezer
- Able to determine where product will be stored.
- Trouble totes that are rejected from the storage freezer.
- Load rework totes on the line manually to be stored in freezer.
- Call rework totes from freezer for rework line.
- Rework System
- Operator the rework system.
- Complete documentation of product being reworked.
- Work with production on adjustments of rework addition.
- Complete CIP of the rework system.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate problems and potential problems to supervisor.
- Be an active part in the packaging process; offering suggestions to improve the packaging department and doing whatever is needed to successfully complete the job.
- Actively participant in packaging meetings.
- Complete daily department paperwork and documentation.
- Responsible for required sanitation of equipment, tools, and work area.
- Assist Production Supervisor in training and development of new employees, including instructing new employees on proper procedures, safe working practices and producing a quality product.
- Assist Production Supervisor with delegation of employees and troubleshooting processes as needed.
- Completing and signing off on Pre-op inspections prior to machines starting up.
- Stop any observed GMP violations.
- Assist with or complete incident reports.
- Lead emergency response and evacuations as needed.
- Take immediate corrective action in the absence of supervisor, report issues to supervisor.
- Meet goals and objectives established with production supervisor.
- Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Safety Protocol
- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.
- May work offsite at warehouse in Greenville, WI.
Greenville Warehouse only:
- Provide employee coaching as needed.
- Proofread end of day paperwork for accuracy.
- Collect samples for Quality.
- Communicate with VCTS to ensure product is ready so that everything stays on schedule.
- Present monthly employee meetings and quizzes.
- File paperwork and send to VCTS and Agropur administration.
- Lead offside Repack Team and ensure whole team follows Good Manufacturing Practices and safety policy.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience Required:
- Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing packaging experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure Required:
- Forklift certified (in house training provided).
- PCQI required.
