Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for the direct supervision of the Distribution department. Primary duties include organizing and directing daily operations in coordination with co-supervisors, ordering supplies, writing/revising work procedures, training, and evaluating department personnel and ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. This position is also responsible for performing other duties as assigned by Management.

Essential Duties and Functions



  1. Monitor Distribution activities ensuring that all are according to Standard Operating Processes and maintain Quality System Requirement.
  2. Supervise the Distribution operations to ensure all packing lists/orders are printed, proper freight charges are added, and coordinate pickups for all carriers.
  3. Conduct accurate cycle counts according to schedule and maintain inventories of Streck manufactured products, resale of goods, and packaging/shipping supplies to ensure all products are ready to be shipped as scheduled.
  4. Schedule and plan all distribution functions, scheduling of vacations, sick leave and overtime for direct reports and address any conflicts that may arise.
  5. Demonstrate competency of all job tasks associated with the Distribution departments. Assist with completion of all departmental and operational daily activities as needed.
  6. Conduct regular performance evaluations for all personnel according to company policy. Utilize this tool to motivate and challenge employees, communicating a defined career path for direct reports.
  7. Report all information pertaining to the production schedule, procedure or process in question, or personnel issues to the Production Manager.
  8. Interface with other departments for the purpose of communicating and working towards solutions to problems, such as planning and scheduling of workloads to ensure products are packaged and shipped on time.
  9. Be an active participant in recruiting, hiring, and training department employees. Work in coordination with Production Manager and Human Resources, proactively addressing all personnel issues that arise.
  10. Maintain and revise all department documentation and work instructions.
  11. Assist in developing an annual plan and budget for areas of responsibility.
  12. Supervise and handle all CAPA's and emails with reference to distribution problems by reporting to Production Manager on problem resolutions and making suggested changes, when necessary, to solve problems and increase efficiency.
  13. Maintain a mature problem-solving communication style while dealing with work pressures, time demands and conflict.
  14. Other duties as assigned by Management.



Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, distribution, science, or related discipline or an associate's degree with applicable experience.
  • Experience in an ISO/FDA environment with prior Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be dependable, well organized, possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing.



Technical Competencies



  • Knowledge of and ability to operate various machines, equipment, and devices such as shrink wrap machine, pallet jack, portable scales, personal computers, and various computer software such as SyteLine, FedEx/UPS and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise leadership and use prudent judgment in various situations and make appropriate decisions within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Ability to anticipate potential and existing problems, analyze various solutions, take appropriate action and/or make appropriate recommendations to management for approval.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan, organize and prioritize distribution functions to meet company/employee needs.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Employee-Right-To-Know Program.



Work Environment/Travel Demands

The work environment is a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory. Occasional short durations to cold temperatures inside walk-in coolers. Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (laboratory coats, hair bonnets, and beard covers (as applicable) and other safety/protective equipment (masks, gloves, and/or face shields for example) for up to two and a half hours consecutively. Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 0%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions. Employees must comply with all travel recommendations regarding "safe travel" according to company policies and guidelines, and all federal, state, local, and international orders.

Physical and Mental Demands

Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping. Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication. Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
