The INVISTA Nylon Intermediates manufacturing facility in Orange, Texas, is seeking entrepreneurial, innovative leaders to join our team as a Maintenance Technician.

Our Team

Join INVISTA as a Maintenance Technician as we are looking for a motivated person to provide precision maintenance support to maintain various fixed and rotating equipment in a chemical plant environment in accordance with our Environmental, Health, and Safety practices.

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic systems, piping, and rotating equipment
  • Perform equipment condition inspections and develop repair scope recommendations
  • Review and develop asset strategy improvements related to preventive maintenance
  • Identify and prioritize maintenance needs within the operating units while proactively sharing knowledge
  • Provide operations training to build capability within the team
  • Support operations with the startup and shutdown of operating units
  • Perform equipment overhauls on various rotating and fixed equipment
  • Diagnosing problems by interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manufacturers' literature
  • Perform root cause analyses on equipment failures and recommend necessary preventative or corrective maintenance steps to ensure reliable equipment
  • Develop new procedures and update existing procedures
  • Develop recommendations for upgrading various rotating and fixed equipment
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports and associated documentation

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Do you have one of the following requirements?
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military field performing general mechanic or millwright duties
    • Associate degree or higher in a related mechanical maintenance field
  • Experience with troubleshooting, testing, and inspection of equipment such as process valves, pumps, and mechanical seals
  • Experience working around mobile cranes and possess basic lifting and rigging knowledge
  • This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2-year associate degree or higher in a related mechanical maintenance field
  • Vibration certification
  • Previous millwright experience
  • Pipefitter experience
  • Reciprocating compressors experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a 10-hour shift. The work schedule is subject to change with notification, depending on business needs. Additionally, must be available to work scheduled (Planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed), to meet business needs.
  • Required to wear any or all of the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, FRC, acid suits, breathing air, gloves, safety boots, respirators, ACR Flash suits, and encapsulated suits. PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces with supplied breathing air and congested areas.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels, and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds in excess of 80 feet.

This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.
