STS Technical Services is hiring an Interim Manager of Planning to lead heavy maintenance operations for a major regional airline in Charlotte, North Carolina. This leadership role will play a direct part in shaping how maintenance planning is executed and optimized, supporting both near-term performance and long-term fleet planning goals.
Position Summary:
As Manager of Heavy Maintenance Planning, you will oversee all day-to-day activities of the planning group, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with established safety and quality standards. This is a critical role with cross-functional impact, offering you the chance to lead teams, refine systems, and support major aircraft maintenance milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily activities of the Heavy Maintenance Planning group
- Develop and manage training programs to grow internal planning talent
- Coordinate all maintenance allocations and schedules across PSA departments
- Travel to Heavy Maintenance Facilities as needed
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage aircraft inductions and retirements
- Ensure completion and accuracy of reports and planning deliverables
- Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures within the planning group
- Support implementation of long-range planning strategies using optimization software
- Maintain and update technical and company manuals related to maintenance planning
- Recommend procedural improvements to enhance department performance
- Support the Safety Management System (SMS), including Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance functions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance planning
- Experience in aircraft maintenance with working knowledge of maintenance programs
- Familiarity with aircraft inspections and scheduling cycles
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Prior supervisory experience
- Valid U.S. work authorization
- Ability to obtain a valid passport
- Fluent in English
Preferred:
- Associate degree or higher
- 4 years of experience in aircraft maintenance scheduling, planning, or programs, with at least 2 years in heavy maintenance
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent military experience
- Post-secondary education in a technical, vocational, or academic field
