Job Summary
As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the effective receiving and distribution functions within your designated area. This position is essential for ensuring that our operational processes run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the organization. You will not only manage daily operations but also foster a positive work environment that encourages team collaboration and productivity.
Primary Duties
- Supervise the receiving and distribution functions within the designated area
- Actively develop your team of Group Leads - coaches and counsels with integrity
- Engage, develop and motivate a team of contributors to meet or exceed operational goals, as well as monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling, and development; and use Key Performance Indicators to make ongoing improvements and enhancements
- Support the team with a working knowledge of RF processes using RF scanning equipment
- Maintain acceptable production and quality levels to ensure the performance metrics of the business are met
- Manages the day to day expectations of staff, including performance of scheduled reviews, managing corrective action, in partnership with HR, participates in the interviewing and selection of staff
- Conduct periodic meetings with assigned staff to communicate company policy, process changes, workloads, safety topics
- Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process revisions as necessary
- Plan daily workload based upon forecast and schedule the team appropriately
- Work within and promote established safety and quality standards
- Demonstrate practical application of quality concepts such as 5S and Kaizen to improve quality performance of assigned area of responsibility
- Uphold the values of Dorman through setting example and holding the team accountable
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience
- A basic knowledge and understanding of quality concepts such as Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma, and 5S principles is highly desirable.
- Experience and familiarity with Warehouse Management Tools will be considered an asset, enhancing operational efficiency.
- A proven track record of motivating teams while effectively managing conflict is essential; you must demonstrate the ability to provide feedback and support the development of future leaders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for interaction with team members and various stakeholders.
- Comprehensive management and leadership skills, including experience with the complete staffing lifecycle from interviewing to performance management, promotions, and terminations, are required.
- An ability to establish and maintain leadership credibility and authenticity will be key in fostering trust and respect within the team.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the capability to prioritize workflows and manage multiple projects simultaneously, will be necessary to succeed in this role.
- Physical Requirements: Must have the capability to lift up to 50 pounds to meet job demands responsibly.
