Day & Zimmermann is seeking a General Superintendent to oversee and coordinate all field construction and maintenance activities. This position is responsible for managing union craft labor, ensuring safety and quality standards, and executing work in accordance with outage or project schedules. The General Superintendent provides leadership and coordination to discipline superintendents, contractors, and craft personnel, ensuring effective communication between field teams and plant leadership.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for organizing and managing all site field activities, including management of all craft and craft supervision positions-coordinating the support of field operations and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and manage cost and schedule performance and reviews estimates and work orders for accuracy and take ownership of scope, equipment needs, and man-loading.
  • Understand and comply with all client-owner labor contracts and jurisdictional agreements, and interfaces with the owner's site representative on a daily basis, keeping the client-owner abreast of all D&Z field operation's tasks and activities.
  • Performs field walk-downs and reviews constructability, driving change to increase productivity and keep projects on budget and on schedule.
  • Interface with planning, engineering, and operations teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work activities.
  • Monitor productivity, work quality, and safety performance; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead daily work coordination meetings and craft briefings to align teams and clarify work scopes.
  • Support and enforce site safety policies, human performance tools, and ALARA principles.

Provides support and assistance to the Site Manager and assumes his/her role in their absence.

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of nuclear power plant experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role. Extensive field leadership experience in a BWR plant preferred.

Strong knowledge of union craft labor operations and collective bargaining practices.

Demonstrated ability to manage multi-craft field activities and large workforces during peak work periods. In-depth understanding of nuclear safety culture, work control, and plant operations.

Proficient in reading drawings, technical specifications, and work packages. Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to lead meetings and briefings effectively.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $95,000- $171,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
